2. Scope and Nature of this Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal data when you:

  • create or use a Relieve account;
  • join a waiting list or mailing list;
  • contact us with an enquiry;
  • are referred to Relieve by a partner organisation with your knowledge or consent;
  • participate in research studies, pilot programmes or community initiatives;
  • otherwise interact with Relieve or our services.

Relieve is a general wellbeing and lifestyle tracking platform.

It enables users to:

  • Record, organise and reflect on self-reported information;
  • View patterns, summaries and insights generated from their own data;
  • Access general, non-clinical educational content;
  • Export their own information;
  • Choose to share selected information using optional features.

Relieve is not a medical device and is not intended for:

  • Diagnosis, treatment or prevention of disease;
  • Clinical monitoring or risk assessment;
  • Medical decision-making.

All information processed within Relieve is intended solely to support personal wellbeing and self-reflection.


3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Relieve.

We do not knowingly collect personal data relating to children.

If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it without undue delay.


4. Categories of Personal Data We Process

We process the following categories of personal data.

a) Account Information

  • Name;
  • Email address;
  • Date of birth;
  • Authentication credentials.

b) Wellbeing and Self-Reported Information

This may include:

  • Wellbeing records;
  • Journal entries;
  • Lifestyle information;
  • Check-ins;
  • Personal reflections;
  • Medication or intervention tracking (where used);
  • Goals, routines and wellbeing activities;
  • AI-generated summaries and insights relating to your own data.

Some of this information may constitute special category personal data under UK GDPR because it relates to your health or wellbeing.

c) Technical Information

We may collect:

  • Device type;
  • Operating system;
  • IP address;
  • Browser or application version;
  • Crash reports;
  • Security logs;
  • Usage analytics.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect our services from automated abuse and fraudulent account creation. Turnstile operates in invisible mode and may collect technical information required to distinguish legitimate users from automated traffic. d) Payment Information

Subscription payments are processed securely by third-party payment providers such as Stripe.

We do not store your full payment card details.

e) Waiting Lists, Mailing Lists and Enquiries

Where you express an interest in Relieve or contact us, we may process:

  • Your name;
  • Email address;
  • Organisation (where relevant);
  • Marketing and communication preferences;
  • Correspondence with us.

We use this information to:

  • Respond to enquiries;
  • Manage waiting lists;
  • Provide updates you have requested;
  • Administer beta programmes or early access where applicable.

f) Referral Information

Where you have requested or agreed to be referred to Relieve by a partner organisation, we may receive limited personal information from that organisation.

Depending on the referral, this may include:

  • Your name;
  • Contact details;
  • Information necessary to administer the referral;
  • Confirmation that you have agreed to the referral;
  • Information required to provide the service you have requested.

The referring organisation is responsible for ensuring that it has an appropriate lawful basis for sharing your information with us.


5. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal data to:

  • Provide and operate the Relieve platform;
  • Authenticate your account;
  • Store and organise your information;
  • Generate summaries, visualisations and insights you request;
  • Enable optional features that you choose to use;
  • Enable optional sharing of information where you instruct us to do so;
  • Manage subscriptions and payments;
  • Administer referrals from partner organisations;
  • Manage waiting lists and expressions of interest;
  • Communicate with prospective and existing users;
  • Improve the functionality, security and performance of the platform;
  • Detect misuse, fraudulent activity and automated abuse;
  • Protect the security and integrity of the Relieve platform and our users;
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

Some of these features are provided using third-party AI services acting on our behalf. Information is shared with these providers only as necessary to generate the response you have requested and is processed in accordance with our contractual and data protection obligations.

We do not:

  • Provide medical advice;
  • Diagnose medical conditions;
  • Perform clinical profiling;
  • Sell your personal data;
  • Use your personal data for advertising purposes.

6. Lawful Basis for Processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on different lawful bases depending on the processing activity.

These include:

  • Contract — where processing is necessary to provide the Relieve service you have requested.
  • Consent — where you choose to receive marketing communications, participate in optional features or where explicit consent is required for processing special category data.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process information by law.
  • Legitimate interests — for platform security, fraud prevention, service administration and improvement where these interests are not overridden by your rights.

Where we process special category personal data, including health or wellbeing information, we rely on your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) UK GDPR where required.


7. Consent

Some features of Relieve rely upon your explicit consent.

These may include:

  • Processing health and wellbeing information;
  • Participation in research programmes;
  • Sharing information with healthcare providers;
  • Sharing information with clinics or partner organisations;
  • Receiving optional marketing communications;
  • Other optional features introduced in the future.

Where appropriate:

  • Consent is requested separately for different activities;
  • You are free to decline optional features without affecting your use of the core platform;
  • You may withdraw consent at any time through your account settings, using the unsubscribe link provided in our communications where applicable, or by contacting us.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing already carried out before consent was withdrawn.

Some features may become unavailable if consent is withdrawn.


8. Marketing Communications

If you ask to join our mailing list or otherwise choose to receive updates from us, we may use your contact details to send you information about Relieve, including:

  • Product updates;
  • New features;
  • Invitations to participate in research or pilot programmes;
  • Other communications that may be relevant to your use of Relieve.

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the link included in our emails or by contacting us.

We do not send marketing communications unless we have an appropriate lawful basis to do so.

Depending on the features you choose to use, we may share information with:

Service Providers

Including providers that help us operate Relieve, such as:

  • Cloud hosting providers;
  • Authentication providers;

  • Customer support providers;
  • AI service providers;
  • Security and fraud prevention providers.

These organisations process personal data only where necessary to provide services on our behalf and under appropriate contractual and data protection obligations. We select service providers that offer appropriate security and privacy safeguards.

Partner Organisations and Healthcare Providers

Where you choose to use optional features, or where you request services involving a partner organisation, we may share selected information with Partner Organisations or healthcare providers.

We will clearly explain what information will be shared before it is shared.

Research Organisations

You may choose to participate in research studies through Relieve.

Where research involves personal data:

  • We will identify the recipient organisation;
  • Explain the purpose of the research;
  • Explain what information will be shared;
  • Obtain your explicit consent where required.

Where reasonably possible, information used for research will be anonymised or pseudonymised before being shared.

Legal Requirements

We do not sell, rent or commercially exploit your personal data.

We may create anonymised or aggregated datasets from information held within Relieve.

These datasets:

  • Cannot reasonably be used to identify individual users;

  • May be used to improve Relieve;
  • May be used to support scientific or academic research;
  • May be shared with third parties for those purposes.

Where information has been fully anonymised, it is no longer personal data under applicable data protection law.

We store personal data within the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area wherever reasonably practicable.

Where information is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including:

  • UK adequacy regulations;
  • Standard Contractual Clauses;
  • Other safeguards recognised under applicable data protection law.

Where you delete your account, we will securely delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period unless we are legally required to retain it.

  • Request deletion ("the right to be forgotten");
  • Restrict processing;
  • Object to certain processing;
  • Withdraw consent;
  • Request data portability.

Where available, you may exercise some of these rights directly within the Relieve app.

15. Data Export

Relieve provides tools to help you export your personal information.

Where required by UK GDPR, we will also provide a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format upon request.


16. Cookies and Analytics

Relieve uses only cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the operation and security of the platform.

We do not use:

  • Advertising cookies;
  • Behavioural advertising technologies;
  • Third-party advertising trackers.

Where optional analytics are introduced in the future, we will provide appropriate notice and obtain consent where required.
